Phil’s First Two Gigs of 2018!

Saturday January 20, some time between 5 and 8pm, Theatre of NOTE, Hollywood
Tuesday January 23, 7pm, Matt Denny’s restaurant, Arcadia

On January 20, I’ll be making my annual appearance at Theatre of NOTE’s Hollywood Performance Marathon (https://www.facebook.com/NOTE-Annual-Hollywood-Performance-Marathon-181283655230454/), an event which I can pretty much guarantee you will find unlike anything else in the physical world. You know what I mean if you’ve been before. I’m playing a short set between 5 and 8pm. Write me at philwardlive@att.net to get more details, including parking tips. This LA theatre tradition is chock full of amazement, weirdness, humor, delight and things Trump would hate in general; it starts at 3pm and goes all night. Stay for a while and see what crazy acts show up—often you can see famous people, performing just a few feet from your face.

Then on January 23, in a much calmer vein, I’ll be returning to the Songwriter Serenade, a venerable and adroable acoustic series at Matt Denny’s restaurant in Arcadia.

I play here once or twice a year and it’s super laid back, full of talented musicians, and best of all free. You just pay for whatever food and drink you’d care to order. It’s on a lovely heated patio and everybody’s there to listen. Click here for info and directions: http://www.jchyke.com/songwriter-serenade.html

All the acts do about four songs apiece, including me. My fellow artists that night will be the new-to-me Hunter Scott (https://www.reverbnation.com/hunterscott), my friend from Central CA Randall Lamb, making a rare LA appearance and hopefully playing “Right Wing Jesus” (https://www.reverbnation.com/randalllamb), and guitar wizard Barrett Tagliarino (http://www.monsterguitars.com), with whom I’ve shared many a bill. I plan to bribe Barrett to play along with me. That’s him next to me in the photo.

Hope to see you at one or both of these gigs, and I hope 2018 is treating you well so far. It can hardly be worse than 2017.
