Hello! It’s Phil Ward again. I told you I’d have more November gigs, and while I’m far from perfect, I don’t lie about these things.
I’ll be at TopTune and Flappers, which may sound like a new comedy on the ABC Family Channel, but isn’t. Here’s what it is:
Saturday Nov 16, 8 pm – Top Tune
Where: Fanatic Salon, 3815 Sawtelle Blvd (corner of Venice Blvd), Culver City
Reservations are highly recommended: 310-622-2046
Check out the Facebook event page
It’s my 3rd appearance at TopTune, an insane live show where songwriters perform one of their own songs, then, along with a randomly-chosen partner, have 17 minutes to invent a new one. This thing is crazy popular and it’s no wonder, with talent on board like fellow musician Dale LaDuke, a favorite of mine. And the panel of celebrity judges includes Keegan-Michael Key. You get a lot of entertainment for your 20 bucks.
Me and my guitar will join a batch of stand-up comedians for your enjoyment. Other performers include TV star headliner Mary Lynn Rajskub from “24”–also a stand-up comic. Who knew? In the Yoohoo Room. Astoundlingly affordable: two bucks for like fifty comedians.
And on a sad note…the legendary comedy bluegrass show “Billy Hill and the Hillbillies” is closing, after running at Disneyland almost non-stop since the 90s. I have enjoyed, more than almost any gig, being a substitute Billy since 2008 and will miss the show painfully. If you’re going to Disneyland between now and Jan 6, please stop by the show, soak up its greatness, and give ’em some love.
Happy Thanksgiving, everybody. I’m thankful for folks like you.
PS The holidays will be here before you know it! Give someone the gift of funny music. My CDs can be bought, very reasonably, at CDBaby. (…or you can download my songs on iTunes.)
