Phil earns a spot on the Funny Music Olympic Team

Hi guys! Phil Ward here. It’s been a couple of months, eh?

(Howdy to the new people on my mailing list! I hope you’ll find it the most fantastic organization you’ve ever joined.)

This time I’ve got FOUR gigs coming up. Kind of like qualifying in four Olympic events. I’m hoping to finish out with at least a bronze medal or two. There’s gotta be something on this list you’ll like…

Wed Aug 1: Disneyland! I’m playing all day with Billy Hill and the Hillbillies, in our summer location–the Festival Arena, near Big Thunder Mountain Ranch. I don’t recommend you buy a ticket to Disneyland just to see the band, but if you’re spending the day there anyway, drop on by. I’ll be in the hat and bandana, playing guitar and acting like a dork.

Sat Aug 11: Universal Studios! If you’re spending the day there, check out the newly-revamped Baker Street area. Now it’s like London in the 1920s. I’ll be in the hat and bandana, playing ukulele and acting like a British dork.

Tue Aug 28: Another appearance at J.C. Hyke’s Songwriter Serenade concert series, on the lovely patio at Matt Denny’s Ale House in Arcadia. 7 to 9:30 pm; I’ll play 4 or 5 songs, and as usual several other artists will be doing sets as well. Very laid-back and fun, and completely free–order something to eat and/or drink, or not. You choose. This is America. www.jchyke.com/songwriter-serenade.html

Sun Sep 9: An annual tradition continues when we present Trough Records Night at the Fremont Centre Theatre in South Pasadena. More on this one later. If you’ve been, you know it’s cool. 7pm; $15; almost the whole Trough roster gets up and performs for you. I’ll be the one who’s a dork.

Hope to see you at one of these dealios, or perhaps just walking about on the street somewhere. Or at someone else’s gig! That happens all the time.

Your exceedingly athletic pal,
Phil

PS: Psst!  Check out “Shoes Untied” my latest video on YouTube.  And while you’re there, check out all the other videos of my ouvre. I’ve only been arrested once for making videos of my ouvre (I contend it was all tastefully done and essential to the plot), but you never know when it could happen again, so go quickly.
